For as in Adam all died, even so in Christ, shall all be made alive.

If you wish to have your baby baptized, here are some things you need to remember...

  1. Please complete the Baptismal Registration Form and return to the parish office. You may download it here or simply stop by the parish office and request one.
  2. Parents are required to attend a baptismal class unless the child in question has an older sibling that has already been baptized in the Catholic faith here, or at another parish. Baptismal classes are held on the second Sunday of the month at 3:30pm in EB 109. Baptismal Preparation Class Registration forms may be downloaded here.
  3. Sponsors do not need to take the class.
  4. Baptism are done on Saturdays at 3:30pm.
  5. Except in the case of an emergency, in order for a child to be baptized at St. Jude, the family presenting the child must be registered and participating members of our parish for three (3) months prior to requesting a date for baptism. Registering in the parish for the sole purpose of baptism or to receive a letter of recommendation is not permitted. The minimal standards of participation are attendance at Mass every Sunday and financially supporting the parish. The pastor will give consideration to unusual circumstances and should be contacted directly if a relaxation of this rule is to be sought.
  6. This same standard of participation is required in order to receive a letter of "Good Standing" or to receive a letter of permission to baptize a child in another parish.

If you would like to baptize your child in another church, or need a letter of "Good Standing" to be a Godparent or Sponsor, please click here. Complete the form and return to the Parish office.

If you wish to have your child (over the age of seven) baptized, here are some things you need to remember...

  1. A child, seven or older must be instructed in the sacraments of baptism and confirmation, since both sacraments will be given.
  2. A home instruction program for parents to work with their children is available from our Religious Education office.
  3. Once the instruction is completed and turned back into the RE Director, she will notify parish administration and you can call Peggy (ext. 2210) to schedule the sacraments.

Adults seeking baptism will probably need to proceed through RCIA with the assumption that their baptism in the Catholic Church signifies their desire to become Catholic as well. This will not only prepare them for baptism, but Confirmation, First Eucharist, and First Reconciliation as well. They should discuss this with the pastor or pastoral assistant. Most Christian baptisms are universally recognized by the Catholic Church!
