Confirmation classes begin in September and occur on the following schedule (see Candidate Description below):

"JYM"
Year 1 Candidates
7th grade
Wednesday
6:00 - 8:00pm
"JYM-The Edge"
Year 2 Candidates
8th grade
Sunday

The age for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Jude is 8th grade. In our Diocese, preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is a two-year process, just as it is for any sacrament. This means that a student begins preparation in 7th grade (as a Year 1 Candidate) and the student will complete his/her preparation in 8th grade (as a Year 2 Candidate).

Special Note: Students must be registered into the Confirmation program before September 30th. Students registering after this date will not receive credit for classes for the year. Only those students transferring into the program from another parish will receive credit after this date.

YEAR 1 CANDIDATE Description

  • Those students entering 7th grade.
  • Any student, 8th through 11th grade, who has not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation AND who has not received any prior Confirmation training in another parish.

YEAR 2 CANDIDATE Description

  • Those students entering 8th grade AND who have completed 1 year of confirmation preparation, either at St. Jude or at another parish.
  • Any student, 9th through 11th grade, who has not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation AND who has completed 1 year of confirmation preparation, either at St. Jude or at another parish.

For those teens entering 12th grade who have not yet been confirmed, or for any questions concerning the Sacrament of Confirmation, please contact the Youth Director.

"Special Sacraments" Preparation Classes
In order to be eligible to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, students must have already received the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation and Eucharist. (Students entering 7th - 12th grades who have not yet been baptized, please contact the Youth Director.)

Those students entering 7th - 12th grades who have not yet received the sacraments of Reconciliation and/or Eucharist will automatically be enrolled in Special Sacraments classes to help get them on track so that they are eligible to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

These Special Sacraments classes occur on the following schedule:

Reconciliation Classes
Monday
6:00 - 7:30pm
Sept. - Nov.
(8 classes total)
Eucharist Classes
Monday
6:00 - 7:30pm
Feb. - April
(8 classes total)

These classes run concurrently with the Confirmation Preparation classes. Students must maintain a high level of attendance in ALL classes in order to receive credit for the course year and to avoid repeating the course.
