1. How to prepare for Baptism of a child between the
ages of 0 and 6 years:
Parents must be members of a Catholic parish and attend
Baptismal classes. Contact the main church office (ext.
0) for information on how to sign up for classes. Parents
who are not members of St. Jude must have a "Permission
to Baptize/Good Standing" letter from their home parish.
If parents have already attended a Baptism class it is not
necessary that they repeat the class again.
2. How to prepare for Baptism of a child that is at
least 7 years of age but has not completed the 6th grade:
Parents must be members of St. Jude Parish. The child must
attend regular, weekly religious education classes and attend
six sacrament preparation classes offered on Monday evenings
at 7pm. Three six week sessions are offered during the year.
Parents must contact the Children's Ministries office (ext.
2225) for specific information. Any person over the age
of 7 years who receives the Sacrament of Baptism will receive
the Sacrament of Confirmation at the same time according
to Church Doctrine. Students will also be required to attend
Confirmation classes when they reach the 10th grade in order
to gain a deeper understanding of the sacraments they received.
3. How to prepare for Baptism if the student is in the
7th or 8th grade:
The family must be a member of St. Jude Parish. The student
must attend the St. Jude youth program for his/her age.
Six sacrament classes covering the sacraments of Baptism,
Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation must also be
completed by the student with the support of parents and
staff. All four sacraments will be conferred at the end
of the six weeks but students will also be required to attend
Confirmation classes when they reach the 10th grade in order
to gain a deeper understanding of the sacraments they received.
Sessions run twice a year, once in fall and once in spring
but students may start at any time. Contact the youth office

4. How to prepare for Baptism if a student is in the
9th-12th grade:
The family must be a member of St. Jude Parish or the student
must be a member with the parent's permission. The student
must attend the High School religious education program
for his/her age. The student must attend the high school
Confirmation classes where the student will prepare to receive
Baptism, Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation. All
four sacraments will be conferred either at the Easter Vigil
or at the Confirmation Ceremony. Contact the youth office

and Reconciliation if they have already received the sacrament
of Baptism:
Parents must be members of St. Jude Parish. The child must
attend regular, weekly religious education classes, as well
as a six week Reconciliation class offered in the fall and
a six week First Eucharist class offered in the spring.
In addition the child must attend two sacramental retreat
days. Parents must contact the Children's Ministries office
(ext. 2225) for further information.
2. How to prepare a student in grades 7-9th to receive
First Eucharist and Reconciliation if the student has already
received the sacrament of Baptism.
Parents must be members of St. Jude Parish. The student
must attend religious education classes for his/her age
group. In addition the student will attend six sacramental
preparation classes. At the end of the six meetings, the
student will receive the two sacraments. The classes run
twice a year, once in fall and once in spring but a student
may enter at any time. Contact the youth office (ext. 2217)

First Eucharist and Reconciliation if the student has already
received the sacrament of Baptism.
