Understanding sin and the difference between
serious and less serious sin are crucial concepts for the
reception of the sacrament of Reconciliation. For this reason,
the church leaves the decision of readiness in the hands of
the parents, but instruction is provided at St. Jude.
Checklist for First Reconciliation
Parent must:
1. Attend (one parent) one of the First
Reconciliation meetings in September or October.
2. Help prepare your child for First Reconciliation
by doing the "At Home" Study Program given at
the meeting. (The At home activities come from
the book, The Gift of Reconciliation, published by
Silver, Burdett and Ginn)
3. Attend Saturday or Sunday Mass with your
child each week.
1. Be Baptized.
2. Be faithful in attending Religious Education
classes or attending a Catholic school where religion is
taught daily.
3. Complete the At Home" study
program (The At home activities come from the
book, The Gift of Reconciliation, published by Silver,
Burdett and Ginn)
4. Attend the First Reconciliation Retreat
Parent Information Meeting
The attendance by one parent is expected at this very important meeting. In order for your child to receive the sacrament it is necessary for one parent to attend.
