VBS 2008: Son World Adventure Land
June 23rd to June 27th from 9:00am to 12:00noon
The VBS program is open to children who are three (by Sept. 1, 2007) to children who have completed 4th grade this current year. Registration will take place on the weekend following the parish Masses March 29th and 30th. VBS is for children who are completing a 3 year old PreK class to those completing fifth grade this current school year. Children must have reached their third birthday by September 1, 2007 in order to participate in the PreK 3 class. As of May 7, 2008 there are currently openings in the 3rd and 5th grade (God’s Word Rocks) classes. All other classes are full including 105 volunteer positions! Register Now!
God's Word Rocks
This is a Bible Study program created just for children who have completed the 5th grade this current year. Registration and the program runs concurrently with the regular VBS program June 23 to 27th from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Along with studying the Bible, the children will work on some service projects; participate in a walk-a-thon to raise money for St. Jude's P.I.G.S. project (People In God's Service) that purchases cows for Honduras, and prepare a play to present to the children who are attending VBS.
Kids Creative Camps
Different fun-filled camps will be offered at St. Jude this summer Session One: July 14th-18th Session Two: August 4th-8th. Children ages 4 to10 have several choices of creative camps to attend. The time will be from 9:00am to 12:00pm. The cost for the camp is $70.00 per child per session. Everything is included in the cost, and it will be a great addition to your children's fun this summer. There are a minimum of four camp themes to choose from: music, literacy, cooking, nature adventure, memory book creating, and the famous Lego/robotics camp! Session One and Session Two Camp registration begins May 5, 2008.
Each camp must have a minimum of 10 children enrolled in order to be held. The age for each camp is the age your child was on September 1, 2007.

“Get On Board” Ages: 4-7
Join Della Doss and Greta Medrano for a fun-filled week of music! Many forms of transportation will be the way of music fun this summer! Designing costumes, decorating a set, music, movement and crafts will fill our week. We’ll perform for our families at the end of the week! Song, dance, art, and games will fill the morning.
“Cooking with Mrs. T” Ages 4-6
Spend a delightful week with Teresa Smith in the kitchen cooking up kid favorite foods. We will visit Italy when making personal pizzas, make a cake for a party, and have our own lemonade stand! Reading and math activities, combined with creative play, art, and games will keep your child engaged and excited.
Book Bash” Ages 4-6
Join Karen Hernandez on a week long trip down Storybook Lane! Your child will develop literacy skills by spending time with featured author’s each day. The themes will be expanded each day through arts and crafts, games, and a child made snack.
“Muddy Puddles-soap and Bubbles!” Ages 3-4
It is your tots chance to join Carin Luse and explore the wondrous world of science. Each day will include hands on activities designed just for your aspiring young scientist. Fizz, bang and poof will be the order of business as campers explore and use buckets, tubes, eyedroppers and straws to make water move, rise and fall. Join us for a week of water-full, messy, fun, crafts, experiments and stories.
“Robo-Botics!” Ages 6-8
It’s time to join Ann Mikelonis for a week of activities creating your own robots using Lego Mindstorms, solar Knex, and other construction materials to enhance their knowledge of physics and engineering. What a great way to spend the week! Math and scientific skills will be enriched, and each child will come home with their own solar powered machine.
“Author Rama” Ages 7-10
Do you like playing with words? Scribbling like crazy? In this camp Amy Puga will help you explore different ways to get your writing flowing and new ways to put your unique voice on the page. We'll read, write and share, and we'll talk about what we can do to make our own writing come alive. We will learn about different styles of writing by reading books and writing our own stories. Come ready to have fun and be a writer! By the end of the week, children will have a finished product: a book!
“Making Memories” ages 7-10
Join Liz Moore as we make your favorite pictures into special memories. We will use scrapbooking techniques to make a memory book as well as art materials to make a picture frame. We will also learn some photography tips. You supply the pictures, we’ll supply the rest!
“God’s Green Earth” Ages 5-6 (If you are completing a 4’s PreK class you may enroll)
Come explore the exciting planet God created just for us with Lisa Howard! It will be “Earth Day every day” as we investigate God’s wonderful world. Topics covered include: the sun, atmosphere, oceans; land, and ecology. Each day will be filled with outdoor activities and earthy arts/crafts. Some session favorites include sun dyed t-shirts, cloud watching, building weather instruments, digging for fossils, ocean art, and forever grocery bags.
“Don’t Bug Me! Please!” Ages 3-5
Toni Cechan has filled this week with many hands-on learning opportunities! Learn all about bugs and where they live. Enjoy favorite authors such as Eric Carle and Leo Lionni. Build a bug house to start your own bug collection. Make bug snacks and learn about the life cycle of insects all set within a camping theme. Enjoy bug books, crafts, songs, and games with lots of fun for all!

“Quick and Easy Comfort Foods” Ages 7-10
Spend a delightful week with Teresa Smith in the kitchen cooking up kid favorite foods. We will explore the world of comfort foods by making recipes that require minimal adult supervision. We will learn to make recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
“Book Bash!” Ages 6-8

“Nuestro Mundo” “Our World” Ages 5 -7 (Children completing a 4’s PreK class may enroll)
Share a week with Seňorita Coleen O’Brien and enjoy this fun approach to learning the Spanish language. It emphasizes oral communication and builds a child's confidence in speaking Spanish. It also instills a desire to continue learning the language. Through the use of songs, stories and interactive games, children experiment with words and basic expressions to help them learn in a playful and natural manner.
“Who-Dunnit?” Ages 6-9
Would you believe a mysterious crime will be committed the same day we arrive in camp? Join Ann Mikelonis and use the same types of crime solving technology they use in real investigations (OK, well not all the fancy high tech gear but some cutting edge innovations) to solve that crime and many more. If you enjoy mixing mysteries and microscopes this is for you. Each day’s mystery includes a story, group games, chemistry, and cooperative logic activities. Campers will go home with tools of the trade at week’s end.

Art Camps by Karen Karnuta
Art camp is offered each summer at St. Jude in different sessions. A Screen-printing art program will be offered for middle school to high school students May 29th-June 1st from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm. Art classes for 1st through 3rd graders will be offered June 4 - 8 from 9:00am-11:30am. Art classes for 4th graders and older students will be June 4 - 8 from 1:00pm-4:00pm. All the art classes include instruction in various types of art and offer the children experience in the use of various art mediums.
