Did you know that the Dallas area welcomes thousands
of refugees from all over the world? Refugee families
come from Sudan, Somalia, Burundi, Ethiopia, Russia,
Burma, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Cuba, Central America
and other areas of conflict.
For safety reasons, refugee families are unable to
return to their country of origin and have been granted
permission to live in the United States. The Refugee
and Empowerment Services of Catholic Charities provide
resettlement, employment services and education to help
refugee families and individuals become independent
and self-sufficient.
St. Jude CSI (Community Service Investigators) is
currently looking at an opportunity for our Parish
to put our faith into action by working with one or
more refugee families in conjunction with Catholic
Charities.
We can truly make a difference in the lives of refugees
who resettle in our country. There will be an informational
meeting for anyone interested in this inspiring opportunity
in the near future. Please contact Debbie
Benko for more information at if you have a desire
to participate in this effort.
