Refugee Supply Drive 2010

On behalf of Catholic Charities of Dallas, Refugee & Empowerment Services, we thank you and all of the people from the St. Jude Refugee Ministry and the Mission Possible youth group for your generous donations of pillows, blankets, laundry baskets, detergent, brooms and other house-hold goods! Your donations are a truly compassionate gift that will go toward assisting needy refugee families who recently resettled here in Dallas. The generosity of the St. Jude Refugee Ministry is truly astounding! Please thank all of your students for their compassion and commitment to Catholic Charities of Dallas and our clients.

In 2009, more than 588 refugees received resettlement services through Catholic Charities of Dallas. Your ongoing support will be the building blocks for the improvement of existing services and will allow us to assist more refugee families.
Gratefully, Robin Al-haddad

Thank you to all who supported the refugee ministry during our recent drive. We collected 223 items totaling approximately $3127.

This ministry works closely with the Refugee and Empowerment division of Catholic Charities to help newly arriving refugees in the Dallas area. Volunteers can help in various ways, including visiting families we have been asked to mentor, setting up apartments for newly arriving refugees, participating in drives for specific items needed by families and other activities sponsored by Catholic Charities.

There are 35 volunteers with 10 active from the beginning. They have successfully assisted four families, consisting of over 50 people from four different African nations – Burundi, Southern Sudan, the Republic of Congo, and Somalia. We will soon be taking on a new family.
